The Probability You Exist

A mathematical meditation on the miracle of being here.

This little inquiry asks a basic existential question: What are the odds that you — not merely a human being, but exactly you — would exist at this time, on this planet, in this universe? Let's calculate the odds.

1. The universe must permit stars, chemistry, and stable matter.
2. The Sun and Earth must form under life-permitting conditions.
3. Your ancestors must survive wars, diseases, accidents, famines, and history.
4. Your parents must meet at exactly the right time.
5. One exact biological outcome among millions must occur.

Note: This is not a rigorous cosmology-population-genetics calculation. It is a playful logarithmic illustration of contingency, wonder, and providence. Wonders: Acts 4:30
